After a year of helping women in Southern NH achieve sustainable results with weight loss peptides like Ozempic and Monjaro, I’ve learned that true transformation goes far beyond the scale. Here’s what I’ve seen.
(i.e. How it started...)
On September 9 one year ago I posted a blog about why I’d waited so long to begin prescribing weight loss peptides like Ozempic and Monjaro, and why I had finally decided to begin offering them at my office in southern New Hampshire (you can read it here).
My main concerns were (and still are) that if women lose large amounts of weight quickly, they are by definition losing muscle mass and increasing their risk of osteoporosis and injury later in life. The key in my decision to begin offering a weight loss program was being able to measure and protect muscle mass with body composition scanning, and supporting sustainable lifestyle changes which prevent regaining weight when off the peptides.
(i.e. How it’s going...)
One year in and it’s going better than I imagined. Yes, my patients lose weight safely. We measure body composition monthly to ensure little muscle is lost. Yes, my patients learn new lifestyle habits that help them maintain their goals. Yes, my patients feel more confident, more intimate with their spouses, more vigorous. But it’s so much more than that.
My patients say that our monthly meetings serve as a sort of therapy session where we systematically deconstruct their relationships to the scale, to food, and to their bodies. We challenge unhealthy beliefs and rebuild with new, helpful ones. We deemphasize the number on the scale and focus on wellness, longevity, and vitality. We dig into underlying issues like ADHD, childhood trauma, and diet culture of the 90’s, allowing the lies we believe to be unearthed and corrected.
It’s not always a straight line or an easy journey—and the weight doesn’t always stay off after treatment. But every patient ends up healthier than when they started.
“I couldn’t get up and down off the floor to play with my grandkids three months ago, and now I can.”
“I used to think about food every waking moment, and now I’m not even worried that will come back when I stop using the peptides. I think we’ve healed that part of me.”
“I feel better than I have ever felt in my life…even before menopause.”
If you’re frustrated with your efforts to be healthy and feel confident and you’re curious about weight loss peptides, book a free consultation where I will honestly help you determine if treatment is right for you. Microdosing (tiny doses) is also an option, and many people are looking for this slow start.
I’m grateful to say I don’t regret starting my weight loss program, and I don’t believe any of my patients regret it either.
