Laser Treatments

Is this your first time
getting Laser Treatments?

CO2 laser resurfacing is a safe, effective treatment for many skin changes including fine lines, pigmentation or brown spots, scarring, and laxity. Each treatment is highly customizable to your skin needs, your goals, and your tolerance for down time. It’s a powerful tool for both prevention of facial aging, and reversal.

FAQs

How does this work?

The CO2 laser uses beams of light and heat to create tiny columns of controlled burn within the skin, which remove pigment and reorganize collagen fibers causing skin tightening. Settings can vary from very light treatments only causing a day or two of pink skin, to very deep treatments with 7-10 days of down time. With deeper treatments, the healing process causes collagen to reorganize and new collagen to form, allowing firmer, tighter skin to result.

What can be treated?

The face can be treated alone or in combination with the following areas: upper and lower eyelids for skin tightening as an alternative to surgery, the neck, chest, hands and arms, as well as spot treatment anywhere on the body.

What are the risks?

CO2 laser is quite safe when used with your specific skin characteristics in mind. People with darker skin types could be at risk for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) if treatment is performed too deeply. We will discuss this at your consultation and design treatment for your skin type. I may also prescribe pigment inhibitors to further reduce the possibility of PIH. Rare but possible side effects include infection and scarring. If you have a history of cold sores, I will prescribe antiviral medication to prevent a flare.

Is there any down time?

Lighter treatments are best for prevention and skin maintenance, and cause 2-3 days of pink skin and puffy eyes. The deepest treatments have more intense recovery which may include facial swelling, clear fluid drainage, and redness for 7-10 days. After initial recovery, deeply treated skin will still be pink for several weeks, but able to be managed with makeup. Settings can also be somewhere in between these two extremes based on your unique circumstances. Areas can also be spot-treated to affect change where it’s needed most without the significant down time of full-face treatment.

Does it hurt?

We apply topical numbing to all treated areas, but experience does vary. With deeper treatments, I offer oral sedation to maximize your comfort. After the treatment, you may experience a burning or tingling sensation like a sunburn for a few hours.

How much does it cost?

The CoolPeel treatment, which is the lighter intensity treatment is $700, and a series of three is $2000. A deep treatment, called a Deka, is $1200. Eyelids, neck and chest can be added on for additional fees.

CO2 laser is the gold standard for skin tightening and resurfacing.

You can have healthier, younger looking skin, without looking overdone.
